Mark Makes it to the South Pole!
Massive congratulations to Mark Pollock on reaching the South Pole ten years after losing his sight. Mark completed the gruelling 1,000 kilometre race in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius, with team-mates Simon O’Donnell from Dublin and Norwegian Inge Solheim, making him the first blind Irish man to do so. As if this wasn't enough, Mark's previous achievements include running 6 marathons in one week in the Gobi desert, competing in the 2002 Commonwealth Games as well as a marathon in the North Pole (It won't come as a surprise to learn that Mark works as a inspirational speaker)!
Mark is reportedly looking forward to eating some well deserved hamburgers when he returns to Dublin later in the week. You can read more about Mark's historic journey on www.southpoleflag.com.
